The Summit
MIT Alumni Clubs of Mexico, LAMIT and Iberoamerican MIT Alumni Clubs are proudly organizing the First Iberoamerican MIT Alumni Conference to take place in Cancun, Mexico on June 20 to 22 of 2008.
Objective
Share successful experiences of MIT and its alumni furthering political, social and technological development in Iberoamerica.
The Event
- Three day meeting from Friday to Sunday. Seminars, lectures workshops, lunch, dinner and recreational activity.
- Alumni from all disciplines will present projects implemented in their countries.
- MIT officers will present plans and projects the Institute is or will be developing in the region.
Audience
Over 100 participant alumni/ae, leaders in their countries and disciplines, top executive officers of MIT, organizations interested in establishing contact with MIT alumni/ae and with the Institute itself, and families of conference participants.

Conference Themes
| What are the Summit goals? |
For the first time, a large number of MIT alumni from Ibero-America and the United States will get together to share experiences and strengthen the MIT community in the region. The key goals are to:
- Share experiences and showcase how MIT alumni have contributed to the region
- Share views on what current opportunities are there and how to take advantage of them
- Learn from successful cases in business, education, government and science
- Explore opportunities to improve our networking and new ideas on what can we do as a community

For this fist event the umbrella theme will be Regional Innovation: Opportunity, Initiative, Community
The region presents unique challenges that sometimes may prevent innovation. Among these are economic and political instability, excessive bureaucracy, corruption, etc. On the other hand, innovation is critical for progress in the region. We want to better understand what is the outlook for innovation in the region, what are the existing opportunities, how successful people have done it and what role the MIT Alumni network can play. |

- Business: Learn from successful alumni creating and growing business value in the region

- Networking: Series of open format sessions on what can we do as a community
- Quick "bullets": Informative quick sessions on specific point topics of interest
